The Mimico Mountaineers Junior B Lacrosee Team had a successful evening both on and off the floor on Saturday May the 5th with a 23 to 12 victory over the Mississauga Tomahawks in front of a packed house. Opening ceremonies included a befitting honour to former Head Coach of the Bs, as well as, executive member of the Junior and Minor Clubs, John. JR Robinson. He was inducted into the Mimico Lacrosse Wall of Fame, as well as, a banner raised in his name for over 25 years of contributions to lacrosse in Mimico. After the game, the George Kash Band entertained the crowd on the floor, as the festivities went on into the wee hours. Over $800 was raised in 50/50 proceeds to benefit the Ian Anderson House, in memory of JR. Please click on the following link for the game summary: Mimico 23 vs Mississauga 12 Mimico has back to back home games....On Friday night, the 11th, the Markham Ironheads visit. The 'Heads' just completed a large player transaction with the Green Gaels, which has most likely changed the make up of their team for the better. Game time at the Mim is 8pm. On Saturday evening at 7pm those same Green Gaels return the favour, as they visit the Drummond Street Bowl. Mimico fell to the Gaels 20-8 just short of 2 weeks ago. Hopefully, the double blue boys can put in a complete effort here....the Gaels are always tough.

MIMICO PLAYOFF HOPES STILL ALIVE!!!
Updated 6/18/2011
The drive to extend the 2011 season of the Mimico Mountaineers to get to the post season continues. On the strength of a solid game on the road versus the Gloucester Griffins, the Mounties powered their way to a 13 to 8 victory . With the win, Mimico eliminated the Griffins from post season play. Mimico plays on Sunday afternoon, versus the Nepean Knights, who were 18 to 4 losers at the hands of the Kahnawake Hunters tonight. If Mimico wins tomorrow, a final regular season showdown head to head against the Mississauga Tomahawks will be for the right to continue into the second season. Mimico hosts the Tommies on Tuesday night at the MIM, the final regular season game, hosted by the Blue Goose Tavern Fan Appreciation Night. Gametime is 8pm. BLUE LOSE 4TH IN A ROW VERSUS DOGS
Updated 6/10/2011
The Mimico Jr. B Moutaineers played another game short handed, rostering just 14 runners in their home game on Wednesday night versus the 2010 Canadian Champion Halton Hills Bulldogs. Mimico suffered another brain cramp for a short period of this game, which proved to be the difference. Mimico suffered their 4th loss in a row, and the chances of extending the playoff run to 11 straight seasons appears to be dwindling. 12 vs 7
BOXSCORE The Mounties now face the task of playing the Dogs back to back, as their next game is in Halton on Saturday June the 11th, 7:30pm start time. The Double Blue will return home to face the Oakville Buzz on Sunday evening at the MIM, 7pm. With 6 games remaining, Mimico would pretty much have to run the table while teams just ahead of them in the standings would have to lose their games for any chance of post season play in 2011.

LACROSSE DAY IN MIMICO - SUMMARY
Updated 6/6/2011
The first annual Lacrosse Day in Mimico, brought to you by our title sponsor, Cintas Document Management, from the organizer and participant perspective was a success. We were able to showcase all levels of lacrosse at one venue, on one day, which was very enjoyable for all who attended. We had a great day of lacrosse action, with 50/50, door prizes and a silent auction of a special "Mimico" Merchants jersey . Tim Prothero from Vixtage Lax was onhand to take action photography of all of the action this day. His work can be viewed at http://www.vintagelax.com/ Due to a scheduling change in the Peterborough Laker Classic from the last wk of May to the first week of June, many of the Mimico Minor faithful were not able to take in the action on this day. We look forward to working with the Brooklin Merchants and the Junior C Mountaineers for 2012. We will look to host in May to avoid minor lacrosse tournaments. The first game of the day at 2PM was the Junior C Mountaineers taking on the Huntsville Hawks, transplated from the B league for the 2011 season. The hawks made the trip to the south a little short handed, with only 10 runners dressed. The double blue took advantage by taking their 2nd game of the year from Huntsville 7 vs 1 BOXSCORE Adrian Singh led the way the double blue by potting a hat trick. Reilly Grimes sniped a pair for the home side. Scoring was wrapped up with singles by Marc Santos and Kyle Lopez. Tender Matt Hastings chipped in with 2 helpers . The single marker for the Hawks was recorded by Shawn Fraser. Next action started at 5PM, with the Jr. B Mounties taking on the visting Kahnawake Hunters. Mimico is deperate to string some victories together, after losing very "winable " games versus Mississauga and Newmarket this past week. Mimico started very strong and played a good half game, leading the Hunters at one point by a score of 7 to 3. Kahnawake was allowed back into the game and rallied to defeat Mimico for their 10th loss of the season. 12 vs 10
BOXSCORE In relief for starter Donovan Flesicher, Okwirenton Stacey was named player of the game for the Hunters as he shut the door to the Mounties, allowing 3 goals in 35 minutes work. Player of the Game for Mimico was #42 Bryan Glavine who had 4 goals and a helper. Before the final game of the evening between the home side Brooklin Merchants, and the visiting Wellington-Dufferin Titans, the newest entries into the Mimico Wall of Fame were received. Congratuations to Danny Atkinson, the Builders Category, and Brian Shanahan, in the Players Category on their induction for 2011. The "Mimico" Merchants struck often in the first scoring 8 markers in the first frame to the Titans 1. The Merchants cruized to a 16 to 7 victory. 16 vs 7
Former Junior Moutaineers, #77 Keil Nizich, #26 Brett Shaw, and #94 Tyler Patterson were in the lineup for the Merchants. Patterson struck for 3 goals and added a helper, while "Shawzie" was involved in a spirited punch up with one of the Titans. We would like to thank Gord MacKenzie from Cintas who dropped the opening ball of the final game, as well as, Steve McCarthy from the Brooklin Merchants and Warrrior for providing door prizes for the day. We feel that Lacrosse Day in Mimico was a benefit and we will endeavour to bring it the fans once again in 2012.

MIMICO LOSES MOMENTUM
Updated 6/1/2011

The double blue travelled to their westerly neighbours on the 31st of May, and suffered a major setback in their drive to get back into the playoff picture in the South East Division. Mimico spotted the Tommies leads and fought their way back into the game, but eventually fell to the 'hawks' by a final score of 13 to 7. 13 7
BOXSCORE Things do not get any easier for the Mounties, as they are now on the shorter end of the regular season scheudule with 9 games remaining. On Friday night, the double blue visit the Newmarket Saints. The Saints pulled off a 2 goal victory over the Mounties at the home opener back on April 30th , 14 to 12. Newmarket after 11 games is sporting a 5 win, 6 loss record. Many of the games become must wins, if the franchise would like to keep their 10 year streak of making it to the post season alive.

Other than the Thursday meltdown, the boys have been competitive and in the mix everytime out. MIMICO DROPS HOME OPENER
Updated 5/1/2011
It has been a rare occassion over the 19 years of home opening games at the historic Mimico Arena. Unfortunately, in the 2011 Opener, the visitor got the better of the host. Mimico fought back within a single marker during various times of this matchup. However, they could never overcome the gap, losing to the Newmarket Saints by a score of 12-10. Newmarket Saints 12 @ Mimico Mountaineers 10 BOXSCORE Throughout the game, the double blue have shown flashes of great play, but then, inexperience results in a goal or two against. It will take some hard work, time and patience for the young Mounties to iron out these parts of their game. The schedule does not get any easier, as the boys in blue host the Clarington Green Gaels on Friday May the 6th, 8pm start time, at Mimico Arena. The Gaels are off to a strong 4-0 start, and are always a contender for OJBLL and CLA bragging rights. The return match is back in Clarington on Thursday May the 12th.

Sean O'Callaghan, General Manager of the Mimico Mountaineers Jr B Lacrosse Club is pleased to announce the Coaching Staff for the 2011 Season. After 5 seasons at the helm of the Mounties, Sean has decided to hand over the coaching reins of the team. Also not returning to the staff is Jonny Grimes, who has been a major part of the success of our program the past 4 seasons. Jonny will concentrate his efforts on the Mimico Bantam 1 team in 2011. Mr. Toby Warnell has been named the Head Coach for the 2011 Season. Toby is well know in Mimico Lacrosse circles, and was an original member of the Junor B Mountaineers in 1993. Warnell was chosen Team Captain of the Ms in 1995 and 1996, and anchored the defence of the double blue, along with Donny Gillingham and Robbie Hunter. After going overage, Toby lept into coaching, as an assistant with the Juniors in 1999 and in 2000 with the Mimico Midgets, who made a Final Four appearance at the A Provincials. Toby was back with the Juniors from 2001 to 2005 as an Assistant Coach under John JR Robinson. Toby is extremely excited with the opportunity and looking forward to working with those players who have "Blue Pride" Assisting Toby this year, is Mr. John Griffin, who brings a wealth of experience in coaching, physical fitness and preparedness to the game. "Grif" is entering his 12th season as a Coach of the Junior Mountaineers and we are very lucky to have him at our disposal. Back for a 2nd Season is Coach Denny Wilson, also an original M from the 93 team, and Assistant from last years Founders Cup Silver Medalists. Denny pulled double duty as a Coach last season, helping the PW 2 team to a Provincial Crown. Rounding out the Staff are 2 new members. Chris Willerton, a former Mountaineer, and 2nd All-Time in Team Total Points is returning to the fold after coaching in the Halton Hills Minor Lacrosse organization the past few seasons. "Willie" also spent some time as a player with the Brooklin Merchants of the Ontario Sr. B League. Finally, Scott Gillingham, another product of the Minor Minors, Mississauga Tomahawks Jr. A's and the Brooklin Merchants, returns to the Double Blue where he was also coaching Halton Hills Minor the past few seasons. The Coaching Staff looks forward to meeting all prospective Mountaineers at Player Information Session, scheduled for Wednesday February 9th at 730pm, at Mimico Arena.
